Oudtshoorn, 15 April 2026 – The Xhosa Pastoral Region (PCXR), one of the pastoral regions within the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SACBC) was established to serve the Xhosa-speaking Catholic communities in South Africa, particularly in the Eastern Cape. Members of the Region gathered in Gqeberha, in the Diocese of Port Elizabeth on Monday and Tuesday, to attend to the work of the Region which includes matters of integration of the Catholic faith with tradition, music and liturgy as well as evangelisation, catechesis and translation which ensures accessibility and a deeper understanding of the faith for the isiXhosa speaking Catholic faithful.
