From the Diocesan Pastoral Council Chair

Oudtshoorn, 2 March 2026 – The Chair of the Diocesan Pastoral Council congratulates the following persons who have been elected into leadership roles over the past few weeks and assures the of continued prayer for wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit to serve the Church with integrity and a cheerful heart. The individuals in question are:

Ms Julia Noble – Diocesan Lay Coordinator of Catechesis [Parishioner at Christ the King in Worcester]
Mr André Fouche – Chairperson Parish Pastoral Council Ss Peter and Paul in George.
Mr Anthony Enos – Chairperson Southern Deanery Pastoral Council [Parishioner at St Thomas in Mossel Bay]
Ms Debbie Bennetts – Vice chairperson Southern Deanery Pastoral Council [Parishioner at St Anthony’s in Sedgefield]
Ms Olwen West – Treasurer Southern African Catholic Council for the Laity [Parishioner at Ss Peter and Paul in George]

Conclusion of Lenten spiritual exercises at the Vatican

Pous Leo se Vastyd-retrêt saam met die Romeinse Curie in die Vatikaan wat gelei was deur die Cisterciënser biskop Erik Varden van Trondheim, Noorweë, afgesluit. . Pous Leo het die dae beskryf as “‘n diepgaande geestelike ervaring,” een wat die almal ophul Vastydreis vergesel het, beginnende met meditasie oor “die Versoekings” en ontvou het deur besinning oor die monastieke lewe en die getuienis van Bernard van Clairvaux.

Pope Leo’s Lenten retreat with the Roman Curia in the Vatican, led by Cistercian Bishop Erik Varden of Trondheim, Norway, has concluded. Pope Leo described the days as “a profound spiritual experience,” one that accompanied everyone’s Lenten journey, beginning with meditation on “the Temptations” and unfolding through reflection on monastic life and the witness of Bernard of Clairvaux.
