Pope Leo expresses his deep concern over the renewed fighting

Oudtshoorn, 15 December 2025 – Pope Leo XIV expressed his “deep concern” over the renewed fighting in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo at the conclusion of the Sunday Angelus in St. Peter’s Square, yesterday, 14 December. The Holy Father conveyed his closeness to the people and urged the parties involved to “cease all forms of violence and to seek constructive dialogue, respecting the ongoing peace process.”
