Oudtshoorn, 1 December 2025 – On board the papal plane which took Pope Leo XIV from Türkiye to Lebanon on Sunday afternoon, the Holy Father took a moment to answer questions from reporters traveling with him on his first International Apostolic Journey.
He began by expressing his appreciation for his visit to Türkiye’s authorities for their welcome and answered questions, expressing and stressing his hopes for peace in Ukraine and Gaza and confirming the desire to celebrate the 2033 Jubilee of Redemption in Jerusalem: the 2,000th year, since the Redemption, that is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Pope said that obviously it is an event that all Christians would want to celebrate.
