Oudtshoorn, 13 May 2026: From Bishop Noel Rucastle and the Clergy of the Diocese of Oudtshoorn
The Diocese of Oudtshoorn wishes to express its heartfelt closeness and pastoral support to all believers and communities who are currently facing the extremely difficult circumstances brought about by the recent severe weather conditions across our diocesan territory and beyond.
We acknowledge the pain, disruption, and uncertainty that so many families and individuals are enduring. In these moments of trial, the Church stands united with her people, offering prayer, solidarity, and practical support wherever possible.
In a particular way, Bishop Noel and the clergy extend their closeness to those who have lost family and loved ones in this time, the Pallotines at Step Aside, who have suffered great material losses to the campus and to the faculty and learners of St Mary’s Primary School, whose daily lives and educational mission have been disrupted. Your courage and perseverance are a living witness to faith in adversity.
The Diocese assures all communities that the Church continues to accompany them spiritually and pastorally. We call upon the faithful to remain steadfast in hope, to support one another generously, and to entrust our needs to the Lord who never abandons His people.
May the intercession of Our Lady, Help of Christians, and all our Patron Saints, inspire us to remain strong in charity and resilient in faith during these challenging times.
