The Diocesan Pastoral Council

Oudtshoorn, 10 November 2025 – On Saturday, 8 November, the final Diocesan Pastoral Council meeting took place at St Saviour’s in Oudtshoorn. Representatives from the three Deaneries, as well as the Sodality groups, Communities, and other Groups present in the Diocese, joined Bishop Noel and a large number of diocesan clergy to address important matters concerning the nature of being Church and its lived expression.

Saterdag, 8 November, het die laaste Bisdomlike Pastoraleraad Vergadering by St Saviour’s in Oudtshoorn plaasgevind. Verteenwoordigers van die 3 Dekanate asook die Sodaliteite, Gemeenskappe en Groepe wat in die Bisdom aanwesig is, het saam met biskop Noel en ‘n groot aantal van die klerus van die Bisdom belangrike aangeleenthede omtrent Kerk-wees en die uitlewing daarvan aangespreek.

At the same time, a new executive committee had to be elected, as the chairperson, Liolyn Anthony, had to step down due to his relocation to Rustenburg. The vice-chairperson, Keithin, also resigned as he is heading to the seminary and will begin his formation year in Cape Town in the new year. Anthea Taylor, the secretary, likewise vacated her position.

Following nominations and a secret ballot, Anthea Taylor from the Central Deanery was elected as Chairperson, Trevor Loxton from the Southern Deanery as Vice-Chairperson, and Wendy Njoko from the Central Deanery as Secretary. Their term will expire at the end of the Executive Council’s current term, which is approximately two years from now. The special election does not extend the Council’s term of office.

Na nominasie en geheime stemmings is Anthea Taylor van die Sentrale Dekenaat as Voorsitster, Trevor Loxton van die Suidelike Dekenaat as onder-voorsitter en Wendy Njoko van die Sentrale Dekenaat, as sekretaresse verkies. Hulle termyn sal verstryk aan die einde van die Uitvoerende Raad se ampstermyn wat oor ongeveer twee jaar sal wees: Die spesiale verkiesing verleng nie die ampstermyn van die Raad nie.
