The role and place of the laity in the Church

Oudtshoorn, 20 February 2025 – The Southern African Catholic Council for Laity gathered for their 2025 Annual General Meeting at Lumko, Benoni from 14-16 February, joined by the new leadership, Bishop Vincent Zungu OFM from the Diocese of Port Elizabeth ^{(the HoD successor of Archbishop Zolile Mpambani OMI)}, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Durban, Bishop Elias Zondi as the liason Bishop of Marriage and Family Life ^{(successor of Bishop Noel Rucastle)} and Bishop Siphiwo Vanqa from the Diocese of Queenstown ^{(the liason Bishop of the Interdiocesan Youth Ministry}), Fr. Nhlanhla Mchunu as the Coordinating Secretary of the department and Fr Motankane Mahlako as the Interdiocesan Youth Ministry Chaplain. 22 of the 29 Diocese represented in the Southern African Catholic Bihops’ Conference, attended.
